Before any large-scale construction project can begin, it’s vital that a thorough investigation is carried out to assess site for ground conditions. This is done a process called geotechnical drilling.

Drilling services, and Investigative Drilling (Geotechnical Drilling) is used for many purposes, including scientific research, but mainly, it’s used to assist the construction and Mining industries as an important part of initial project planning and geotechnical assessment.

Saxon Drilling also offers Earthing hole installation and, Micropile and Vertical Anchor Installation.

Difficult Access Sites

We’ve carried out successful geotechnical drilling projects on many varied sites, each presenting unique challenges that we’ve been able to beat. Some of the more difficult sites we’ve worked on include:

  • Hilltop locations, only accessible by helicopter
  • Site locations in built-up areas, accessible only by foot
  • In tidal rivers and over water including off shore
  • Sites with marshy or soft ground
  • On steep slopes and hills

Geotechnical drilling allows us to drill into the earth and remove rock and soil samples and evaluate their stability and suitability against a variety of factors.

Our team at Saxon Drilling have the experience, knowledge and the innovative approach to problem solving that is necessary to allow us drill and investigate ground conditions on any site, safely.
